The scenic drive was filled with charming offbeat locations, colorful flower gardens, and a serene church with a peaceful vibe, making for some perfect photography spots.

The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary – A Must-Visit!
One of the most fascinating wildlife reserves in the world, Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is a Tiger Reserve that stretches over 777 sq km, with 360 sq km of thick evergreen forest.

Boating at Periyar Lake is one of the most sought-after experiences here, offering a chance to spot wild animals in their natural habitat. The cost is Rs.225/- per person, and online booking is recommended to avoid long queues.
Evening of Kerala’s Cultural Magic
Yodha Cultural Kathakali Show
The evening in Thekkady was nothing short of magical! I attended the Yodha Cultural Show, where I was mesmerized by the expressive facial gestures, vibrant costumes, powerful storytelling, and traditional Kathakali dance.
Kalaripayattu Martial Arts Show
The energy of Kalaripayattu, one of the world’s oldest martial arts, was unreal. The performers showcased sword fights, high jumps, and breathtaking stunts.
Bonus: I even got a picture with the Yodha performers—a great memory to take home!
Stay at Spice Grove Resort
After a thrilling evening, I checked into Spice Grove Resort, a beautiful nature retreat nestled amidst spice plantations. The cozy ambiance, warm hospitality, and lush surroundings made it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. The stay was very pleasant with well-mannered and hospitable staff. A special mention to their chef, who prepared and packed an early morning breakfast for us before we left – a thoughtful gesture that I truly appreciated!
Day 2: Adventure & Spice Tour in Thekkady
Early Morning Jeep Safari – Thrill & Misty Views
Waking up early for a Jeep Safari was an exhilarating experience. The ride took me through the lush green hills, misty valleys, and some of the most scenic landscapes I’ve ever seen.
Safari Cost: Approximately Rs.1500/- per person
Must-Try: Stopping for tangy & sweet guavas at the hilltop made the experience even more special!
Returning from the safari, I enjoyed a steaming cup of fresh Kerala tea at a local stall—a must after an early morning adventure!
Exploring Thekkady’s Spice Plantations
A visit to Thekkady is incomplete without exploring its world-famous spice plantations. Walking through the aromatic farms, I got to see and learn about different Indian spices like cardamom, pepper, cinnamon, and cloves.

Tip: Don’t forget to buy organic, farm-fresh spices from the plantation store – they make for great souvenirs!
Scenic Road Trip to Alleppey with a Tropical Treat!
Post breakfast, I set off on a scenic drive to Alleppey, making a stop to enjoy the famous mangosteen fruit along the way.
Must-Try: If you spot a roadside vendor selling fresh mangosteen, don’t miss the chance to taste this juicy, tangy delight!
