Jatayu Park
Jatayu Earth’s Center: A Mythological & Adventure-Packed Climb
A Journey Through the Scenic Roads of Kerala
My visit to Jatayu Earth’s Center, one of Kerala’s most remarkable attractions, was nothing short of magical. Nestled amidst lush green hills, the journey itself was as breathtaking as the destination. Located 200 meters off MC Road, the drive offered serene views of Kerala’s countryside, making the approach truly scenic and memorable.
The Adventure Begins: Climbing 826 Stairs in the Rainy Season
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the grand sight of Jatayu Park, home to the world’s largest bird sculpture—an awe-inspiring representation of Jatayu, the mythical eagle from the Ramayana. However, reaching the summit was no easy feat!
A Rainy Trek with Motivational Stops
With 826 stone-carved stairs standing between me and the top, I braced myself for an adventurous climb. The rainy season made the experience even more thrilling, with light showers adding to the mystique. The stairs are well-built, with resting points shaded by rock formations, allowing trekkers to pause, breathe, and enjoy the stunning views.
Motivational Messages on the Way: One of the most unique aspects of the climb was the motivational quotes inscribed on stones along the pathway. These messages acted as encouraging milestones, reminding climbers to keep pushing forward despite the physical challenge.

Reaching the Top: A Rewarding Experience
After a physically demanding but fulfilling climb, I finally reached the top, and the view was nothing short of spectacular. The majestic Jatayu sculpture, standing at 200 feet long and 70 feet tall, was breathtaking up close.
The park is steeped in mythology, believed to be the very spot where Jatayu fell while trying to save Goddess Sita from Ravana. The attention to detail in the sculpture is astounding—it captures the strength, bravery, and sacrifice of Jatayu in an incredibly lifelike form.
