I reached Alleppey by lunch time in the afternoon and was welcomed aboard a beautifully crafted wooden houseboat. These boats, once used for transporting rice and spices, have now been transformed into luxurious floating homes.
Fun Fact: Houseboats in Kerala are called Kettuvallams, meaning “boats with knots,” as they are built without nails—just wood planks held together with coir ropes!
