Dubai

A Hill Town Best Explored Slowly

I landed in Dubai in January 2026 with one suitcase and a heart full of ambition.

Dubai wasn’t just another country on my travel map.
It felt like a place where dreams are engineered.

Standing in front of the Burj Khalifa, watching it rise into the sky like a symbol of impossible becoming possible — I felt small, but in the most empowering way.

And then the fountain show started.

Lights. Music. Water dancing in perfect rhythm.

Right there, under the tallest building in the world, something shifted inside me.

Later, when I stood on the 154th floor looking down at the city — glass, desert, ambition, luxury — I realised something:

Dubai does not whisper.
It declares.

And the moment I jumped out of a plane over the Palm, skydiving into blue freedom — I made a decision.

If I can jump here, I can jump anywhere.

That day, I added a new line to my life:

One jump in every country.

This 7-day solo journey was not just about luxury hotels or desert safaris.
It was about courage.
It was about balance — living both the high-rise dream and the backpacker reality.
It was about choosing experiences over fear.

Welcome to my Dubai story.

About Dubai

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Dubai is November to March.

I visited in January, when temperatures were around 15-25°C, making it perfect for exploring the city.

Currency

The local currency is United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED).

Most places accept cards, but carrying some cash is helpful for taxis and local markets.

Get a SIM Card or eSIM for Dubai

Staying connected is important when traveling in Dubai, especially for navigation, booking taxis, and checking metro routes.

You have two easy options:

Buy an eSIM Before Your Trip

One of the most convenient options is to buy an eSIM before arriving in Dubai or any other country.

This allows you to activate mobile data immediately after landing, so you can book a taxi, check directions, or contact your hotel without searching for Wi-Fi.

Buy a SIM Card at Dubai Airport

If you prefer a physical SIM card, you can also buy one at Dubai International Airport right after arrival.

Telecom providers like Etisalat and du have kiosks inside the airport.

They offer tourist SIM packages that include:

  • Mobile data
  • Local calls
  • International calling options

However, buying an eSIM in advance is often more convenient because you can stay connected the moment you land.

Quick Tip

If you plan to use ride apps like Careem or Uber, having mobile data ready when you arrive will make your airport transfer much easier.

Ideal Trip Duration

While many travelers visit Dubai for 3-4 days, a 5-7 day itinerary allows time to experience both luxury attractions and cultural areas without rushing that too depends on your style of travelling.

That evening I walked along Dubai Marina Walk, watching yachts and city lights reflecting on the water.

It was the perfect first evening in Dubai.

Dining at the top of the world while watching the Dubai Fountain show was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life.

After this experience I made a promise to myself:

I will skydive in every country that offers it at least once in my life.
