Where I Stayed in Dubai: Honest Hostel Experience at Perla Hostel
Introduction
Dubai is often associated with luxury hotels, skyscrapers, and expensive stays. But during my January trip, I chose something very different — a place that felt more like home than accommodation.
From 14th to 20th January 2026, I stayed at Perla Hostel, and this blog is my honest hostel experience, especially for solo travelers, backpackers, and anyone who believes that people make a place memorable.
Why I Chose a Hostel in Dubai
I wasn’t looking for luxury.
I was looking for connection, stories, shared meals, and slow evenings after long city walks.
Hostels have always given me that — and Dubai was no exception.
Perla Hostel stood out because:
- It’s located in Dubai Marina
- It’s known for cleanliness
- It attracts solo travelers from around the world
- And it felt safe and comfortable for a female solo traveler

I stayed in a female dorm for 6 nights (14th–20th January) and paid:
💰 Total cost: 787 AED

First Impressions: Clean, Calm & Comfortable
The moment I entered Perla Hostel, the first thing I noticed was how clean and organized everything was.
- Beds were neat and comfortable
- Washrooms were well-maintained
- Common areas were welcoming, not chaotic
- The atmosphere felt calm, not party-driven
It’s the kind of place where you can:
- Rest when you need quiet
- Socialize when you feel like it
For me, that balance is everything.
What I didn’t expect — but absolutely loved — was the view from the balcony:
- Panoramic views of Dubai Marina
- City roads glowing beautifully at night
- Tall buildings lit up after sunset
- A clear view of the Ain Dubai wheel in the distance
Sometimes, just standing there and watching the city felt like an experience on its own.
The Best Part: Like-Minded People from Around the World 🌍
This is where Perla Hostel truly shines.
During my stay, I met travelers from different parts of the world — all with different stories, cultures, and reasons for being in Dubai.
Some moments I’ll always remember:
- Sharing meals together
- Late-night conversations about life and travel
- Planning city explorations together
- Walking around Dubai Marina with people who were strangers just a day ago
Hostels remind you how easy it is to connect when judgment disappears and curiosity leads.
Not Just for Travelers: Great for Working Professionals & Remote Workers Too
One thing that really stood out during my stay at Perla Hostel was that it wasn’t only filled with travelers.
Many people staying here were:
- Working in Dubai
- On short-term work assignments
- Or living the work-from-anywhere lifestyle
Some had office jobs in the city, while others worked remotely during the day and explored Dubai in the evenings.
The hostel environment made this very easy:
- Calm and respectful atmosphere
- Clean common spaces suitable for focused work
- People who understand work schedules and quiet hours
It felt like a shared living space where everyone respected both work and personal time.
What I loved most was how naturally work-life balance happened here — mornings were productive, and evenings turned into shared meals, conversations, and walks around Dubai Marina.
For anyone moving to Dubai for work, working remotely, or even testing the city before a longer stay, this hostel feels like a comfortable, social, and affordable base.
Exploring Dubai Together
Staying at Perla Hostel never felt lonely — in fact, I was rarely alone.
We explored:
- Dubai Marina walks
- Cafes and local food spots
- City attractions at our own pace
- Evening strolls with skyline views
Exploring a city with people from different cultures adds depth to the experience. You don’t just see a place — you feel it through shared moments.
Location: Dubai Marina (Big Win)
One of the biggest advantages of Perla Hostel is its location.
Dubai Marina is:
- Well-connected
- Safe to walk even in the evenings
- Surrounded by cafes, stores, and public transport
- Beautiful at night
Being able to step out and just walk by the marina after dinner became one of my daily rituals.
